Kindergarten Awards Day 2012

WOW I am writing about Kindergarten Awards Day! Excuse how cliche this sounds but it seems like it was just last week I was uploading Mally's first You Tube video we made when I interviewed her after her first day of school. I was blessed to be able to go watch kindergarten awards day at Mally's school today.  Stay tuned and I will post the interview I plan to do tomorrow to document her last day of kindergarten.

I was also blessed with a decent seat so I decided to practice filming since I plan on doing more "vlogging" on my business website Moneywise Shopper. Well it was practice for sure! I only successfully recorded 3 out of the 4 kindergarten classes receiving their rewards. Sorry Mrs. McCord's class my finger must have slipped and hit the stop button (stupid touch screen). I did get the kids singing in their program so I am going to share that with you along with the other 3 classes I actually did get recorded. Remember this was obviously practice I have a lot to learn. I hope what I did capture helps you remember these sweet moments. Here is Mrs. Fayer's Class Here is Mrs. Ruffin's Class Here is Mrs. Newsum's Class - you can tell this was the last class and the kids and crowd were getting a little restless!

BYE BYE BOOBIES - BRA BURNING

I don't post on this blog that much anymore.  Moneywise Shopper keeps me so busy and believe it or not I am starting to get the hang of wordpress (not sure I am supposed to say that in this neighborhood.  I wrote my first non-deal, non-moneywise shopper post today... well the first one in a long time.  It felt good to write it and I wanted to share it with anyone that reads this poor'ole negelected blog.

Here is a exerpt for the post that is on http://www.moneywiseshopper.com/.  I would love for you to share this... I pray it can be a inspiration to others

****************************
I don't know how to start this post. It's going to be a emotional post you will laugh as you read it and you may cry..... I hope you are inspired!

The last week of February I was on the phone with a dear friend of mine. A friend that God blessed me with almost 2 years ago. Two years may not seem like a long time but what you don't know is when Andi and I met... well you would have thought we had been friends for 20 years. Kindered Spirits? maybe? Sisters in Christ? Absolutley! Stand up Comedians? Yes! Two women who just want to have FUN? OH YEAH!! Our families "meshed" well and we saw each other multiple times a week up until she moved to Oregon (well, Athen's but it might as well have been Oregon) and I started working more, life happened and time just got away from us.

It wasn't a terrible thing. Our friendship proved to be the good kind. You know the kind where no matter the time that transpires between conversations you ALWAYS pick up right where you left off. It was during one of these conversations at the end of February 2012 that she casually said "hey pray for me I have a mammogram March 9th they found a lump in my breast" I responded "sure... wait... what did you say?... your don't have a mammogram till March 9th?" You see I had a breast cancer scare this past Fall and remember my Doctor wanting me in her office with in 2 hours.

Andi and I talked about it and she called and got in the next day for a mammogram and it didn't look good. She called and she seemed so calm. I was falling apart on the inside my heart ached a deep ache the kind of heart ache that hurts, makes your eyes water, and feels your throat with a lump. The kind of ache that makes your arms weak. It's was in that achy moment when the Lord whispered "I've got her, I am in control, I am not surprised, I knew it would happen this way"

The next week played out with Andi going to more Doctor's appointments, more tests, and the dreaded results. As she told friends a army of support surrounded her and her family. See Andi is not only a amazing friend but also a fabulous wife to Brooks and mother to Brooklyn, Emily, and Maggie. Among other titles she holds such as Daughter of The King, sister, aunt, comedian, Lover of the Lord, daughter, taxi cab driver, teacher, singer, prayer warrior.... this list could go on and on...

I saw her for the first time since our talk on Sunday night March 11th as many of her friends gathered around her and her family for a sweet time of prayer at her friend Melinda's home. Friends drove over from Mississippi to pray for Andi and her family. It was a evening drenched with emotion and laughter. See anything Andi is involved in is drenched with laughter. It's what draws people to her like magnets.

It was mentioned that the following Tuesday night Melinda would be hosting a "BYE BYE BOOBIE PARTY for Andi!! I said "A WHAT?" the group replied in unison "A BYE BYE BOOBIE PARTY!" I said "REALLY what are we going to do burn our bra's?" They said "why not?" I shrieked "COOL I will bring my fire pit!"

As I started to contemplate a BYE BYE BOOBIE party I thought you know that is just the way my girl Andi would do breast cancer complete with a BYE BYE BOOBIE party! See Andi was advised to have a double masectomy that Friday (which turned into this past Wednesday).

Boobies are a source of food for babies, a source of comfort, and a place of pleasure. To some they are just in the way and a nusance! Regardless they are a special part of a woman's body but they don't make the woman a woman. Our media plasters boobies all over the place and most of the time in inapporpriate ways. Why not celebrate boobies and have a party to ease the tension of the days leading up to a breast cancer surgery?!? That is just what Andi's friends and Sunday School Class from Willowbrook did.... They threw her a incredible BYE BYE BOOBIES PARTY!! Click here to find the FULL post and pictures of just how the party went down!

Hope you enjoy!

Laborless Day

So what did you all do for Labor Day?  Me I am on the go ALL the time!  So a rainy labor day forced me to stay in and relax with the family! Here is some of what we did:
  • we watched Rapunzel (as my Micheal  and I laughed at how Mally quoted it line for line)
  • I gave Biscuit a hair cut (I shouldn't have done that)
  • I gave Micheal a hair cut (see pic with Mally below)
  • We vacummed out the couch (cause of the hair from the hair cuts) I should have taken a picture of the stuff we found
  • I practiced drawing owls with Mally
  • Daddy practiced drawing Dragons with her
  • We practiced reading and spelling
  • Micheal and Mally watched Benji
  • I snuck away for a bubble bath
  • Micheal and Mally made brownies
  • We played a intense spy game Mally made up (I was agent Nikki)
  • Mally interviewed me (not sure for what yet but she took lots of notes)
  • I worked a little
  • Micheal ran to the store
  • Mally and I are watched Lady and the Tramp
  • Micheal grilled filets for dinner (got them on-sale at Star Market a few weeks ago)
  • Meant to cut coupons and write a blog post for Moneywise but that wasn't in the cards for today!
think we will wind down this exciting family day with a early bedtime for all!

Here is a pic of Micheal and Mally playing spy according to our spy expert Mally (aka Agent Rose) the rose in Micheal's (Agent Cobra's) mouth is a special communications device and the necklace was a power boost necklace (I need to put that on everyday about 3pm)
Hope you and yours have/had a great laborless Labor Day!

Mally goes to Kindergarten

Mally started Kindergarten today!
Daddy walked her in while Mommy followed acting like the paparazzi! while Mommy followed in amazement that her precious baby girl was starting a new chapter in her life!

See when I look at her I remember when her and I met...
This one makes me smile!

I see 5 1/2 years of the best moments of my life...

So many more wonderful memories to be made!  Thank you God for my precious Mally!
Oh and watch out thank you Mrs. Ruffin!

Mally ADORES Mrs. Ruffin already!

She was pretty excited about her desk too!
Mally was ready for us to leave but I could tell by the death grip hug she gave me she was a little nervous too!

Mally's perspective on Breastfeeding

First let me clarify.  I am a breastfeeding supporter.  I breastfed Mally for her first 8 weeks and wish it would have worked out so I could have done it her entire first year.  So a few weeks ago Mally and I saw a breastfeeding Mom in the mall.  Mally had a million questions about what that baby being "on" that Momma's boobie was all about.... I didn't think much of it and just said "she is feeding her baby milk I fed you that way when you were born.  Its natural God gives Mommies milk for their babies when they are born."

Well fast forward a couple of weeks after Mally has had time to soak in that information.  She comes up to me last night and lays her head on my chest and says "WOW Momma I just can't believe I drank milk out of your big ole boobies when I was a baby... that's just crazy.... but I am pretty sure they tasted like vanilla wafers"

Let's get it started....

As I sit down to finally start my first blog post Mally walks in the room so excited.... "Momma Momma look what I found in the bottom of the bag.... a coupon a coupon!!!" It reminded me of how I should have started a coupon blog 2 years ago when I started couponing (hindsight is always 20/20).  The coupon was for $.75/1 Sunsweet Prunes (Mally knows them as yummy giant gummies)

I am sure this blog will have some money saving tips, coupon deals and I am sure I will post some "freebie" stuff from time to time just because I love that and it is so much fun.  I will also keep you posted when I am teaching coupon classes and let you know how you can book one yourself.

Most of all I will be bringing you up to date with the happenings of our family.  The funny things that happen to us or the bad things that are so bad you have to laugh to keep from crying.  My 5 year old daughter Mally gets quite the reponse on facebook with her wit and humor for the past 2 years.  So I will be posting both old and new stories or "Mallyisms" as they have come to be called by others.  I can fit more on a blog then a status update.

I will end my first offical blog post with this quick story.... So we are in Costco (large discount warehouse store) and we were in a hurry.... Mally exclaims "Mommy I have to go potty" I replied "Mally you just went potty before we got here.... is it a #1 or a #2?" She says "Oh Momma it's a #1 and #6!!!!!!!"
